Fiji Remains Top Choice for Aussie Travellers

Last week, we surveyed 1K+ Aussie travellers to gauge their interest in visiting the Pacific Islands. Here are the results...

  • 39% of travellers confirmed they plan to holiday in the South Pacific in 2023, and 42% stated they are contemplating a South Pacific trip.
  • Of those who have decided to holiday in the South Pacific, the majority, 62%, said they intend to stay for one week, while 25% would consider staying for two weeks.
  • 45% of respondents indicated they will be travelling with their partner, 38% with their family (including kids), and 9% will be travelling solo. Just 7% said they plan to holiday with friends in the South Pacific.
  • Additionally, 39% were looking to splurge on a luxury getaway.

Most Popular South Pacific Destinations

1. Fiji - Fiji was the overwhelming favourite, with close to 40% of survey respondents selecting Fiji as the top destination for a South Pacific holiday.

2. Cook Islands - The Cook Islands ranked second in popularity among Aussie travellers, with 14% indicating they'd like to visit the idyllic islands in 2023.

3. Tahiti - 13% of travellers selected Tahiti as their number one choice, making it the third most popular destination in the South Pacific.

The next five: Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Samoa, New Caledonia and Tonga.
